Why Are You Writing About Fukushima?

I believe I have an altruistic nature about me, and it makes me feel good to provide people with resources and tools that, I believe, will help them live longer, healthier lives.

I understand the Fukushima Failure is going to have long lasting effects on the Worlds Health and Environment.

As a Californian I understand the ramifications will probably be felt strongly here.

I want to live a long healthy life regardless of circumstances outside of my control.

What Are You Doing To Mitigate Radionuclide Consumption?

I'm no expert here. Lately, my time has been spread thin between following the Fukushima failure and researching means to best protect myself and my family. That being said here is a brief description of what I've done to minimize radionuclide consumption:

1. Head down to Whole Foods Market and pickup a couple bottles of broken cell wall chlorella, kelp extract and milk thistle extract. Make sure to follow the dose recommendations closely on the chlorella and kelp extracts. Too much kelp can lead to thyroid issues. Be sure to flush (see step 2) when taking these extracts.

2. Drink plenty of green tea. In essence your goal is to have your body "collect" heavy metals in the liver. You can't let toxins sit in your liver so you must flush them out with green tea and plenty of water. Natural laxatives such as fiber and coffee also help in this respect.

3. I make a seaweed soup out of the broth from my slow cooker: Head down to your local Korean market and pick up some dried seaweed (preferably kelp). Slow cook a brisket for 12-24 hours and simply drop the dried seaweed into the broth. Cook on low an additional 4 hours. leave the slow cooker on low: I let mine run for 24-48 hours.

4. Take a break. I will forgo algaes (ie. chlorella or kelp) 1-2 days a week; you can adjust this to your needs - a thorough flush is a good thing. Don't stop drinking water and teas - It's important to stay hydrated all of the time.

5. Fresh Vegetable Juice. I currently juice cilantro, tomato, carrot, celery, mustard green(or any leafy green is good), spinach, peppers, and pretty much any veggie in the fridge. The secret? a tiny dash of sea salt, fresh ground black pepper, and a dash of cayenne pepper - it tastes like a bloody mary to me!

6. I drink mostly distilled water (from just about anywhere) or artesian water imported from the southern hemisphere. As I understand your standard under-the-sink water filter is not sufficient to filter radionuclides.

7. I try not to consume dairy. Dr. Chris Busby has been quoted as recommending to those of us on the West Coast to avoid dairy products all together. I have to cheat because I love cheese and keifer.

8. There is much talk about edible clays as the most effective means to mitigate radionuclide consumption. I will look into this soon.
